Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Diversity demonstration

The Department of Philosophy is enriched by the diversity of our philosophical community and strengthened by a commitment we share to equity for and the inclusion of groups that are underrepresented in our discipline and marginalized in society (e.g., racialized groups, women, Indigenous peoples, and people with disabilities).

As a way of signalling the above commitment, we have an EDI requirement for most of our modules. Students satisfy it by taking one half course that includes substantial discussion of one or both of the following: 1) equity for and the inclusion of socially marginalized groups; 2) underrepresented voices in Western Philosophy.
